I don’t know about you, but my kids think they need a new backpack every school year whether the old one is worn out or not. My Jr High student actually wore his out last year, but most times we just end up with extra backpacks around the house, some still in excellent condition. If the zippers, straps, and pockets are all still in good condition, why not re-use some of these backpacks for your preparedness supplies?
An average school backpack could easily hold a child’s emergency kit, a small version of an adult kit, or contents of a car emergency kit. You could also use a backpack to organize small items in your storage room like toiletries, firestarting equipment, light sticks, or meals in pouches like Mountain House meals or MREs.
What other ways could you re-use an old school backpack?
